Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the way architects approach the early stages of design, especially in the conceptual phase. This study explores the potential of Midjourney, a text-to-image platform, as a creative tool for generating architectural ideas. Midjourney stands out for its ability to produce high-quality visualizations with minimal computational effort, making it accessible and practical for design exploration. The research follows an iterative process comprising two key stages: brainstorming and refinement. During brainstorming, initial ideas are visualized based on carefully crafted prompts. Refinement builds on this by using advanced features, such as blending and retexturing, to enhance the details and alignment of the designs with project goals. A feedback loop allows for continuous improvement, ensuring that the process remains adaptive and responsive to the user’s vision. The findings reveal that Midjourney accelerates ideation by offering a wide range of design variations. Parameters like chaos, stylize, and blending create opportunities for architects to push creative boundaries and explore new possibilities efficiently. However, the study also emphasizes the importance of balancing technology with human intuition, ensuring that the final designs are not only innovative but also retain the aesthetic and functional values central to architecture.
