Abstract

This study to reveal the essence of the meaning of accounting in the process of biological asset transformation, and how its accounting practices are. Biological assets according to the accounting concept are living resources owned by an entity. Have characteristics capable of producing products and services. Believed to have different sizes and values from other assets that cannot produce other resources. Along with the growth of these biological assets, the assessment, measurement, and reporting models of biological assets cannot be generalized like assets owned by other entities. PSAK 69 which was amended from IAS 41 requires assets in livestock entities to be reported and valued according to market value. In fact, in the process of biological asset transformation, there are different development patterns based on the environmental conditions of the entity in Indonesia. The study was conducted at a duck farm in Semarang Regency. This research method uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method. Data collection was carried out through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the application of financial information, especially assets in livestock entities using the fair value approach is still not relevant to be applied to livestock commodities in Indonesia. Due to geographical conditions and lack of government support in controlling market prices for livestock commodities. Therefore, a review is needed for the application of financial reporting for livestock entities through fair value standards
